Job Title: Irish Women’s Group Worker
Project: Irish Women’s Group
Salary: £15.00 per hour X 4 hours per week

The West Hampstead Women’s Centre (WHWC) is funded by the London Borough of Camden, Big Lottery Fund and other charitable trusts. It provides a wide range of activities, information, education, advocacy, advice, support services and a safe and welcoming space for women.
The Centre currently focuses on Crisis intervention service ( funded by Big Lottery Fund for five years), Volunteer development work, Older women’s mental health and wellbeing projects, Asian women’s group, Irish women’s group, Somali Women’s services and services for women who have experienced rape, abuse or domestic violence.
The Centre Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the Centre and its services. Trustees are responsible for governance, personnel and financial management of the Centre.
Main Purpose of Job:
To co-ordinate and run the Irish Women’s Group which includes organising workshops, working with group dynamics, providing advice and advocacy. The group worker will also oversee administration, collecting statistics for the funders and monitoring figures for Irish women using WHWC’s services.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- To run the weekly Irish women’s group and establish an ongoing programme for them. To provide support to Irish women through advocacy, information and advice.
- This will include one-to-one advice and signposting to relevant individuals and/or organisations.
- To take the lead in organising health awareness workshops and organising professionals to speak on health topics relevant to the group.
- With the help of Volunteers produce an annual health calendar for the Irish women.
- To provide information on different screening services and services available within the NHS.
- To promote the work of WHWC and establish good working relationships with funders and other organisations.
